| Taking a Bite out of Hunger |

| During a two-week competition between Martin High School feeder schools, Boles and Young junior highs combined to collect more than 12,000 canned and non-perishable food items for the Tarrant Area Food Bank. |

| Razzle Dazzle Reading Day |

| Crow Elementary staff members enjoyed being part of Razzle Dazzle Reading Day, which was sponsored by AISD’s Title I department. The Reader’s Theatre performers of the “Halloweiner” play included Donna Hogard, Shelley Brooks, Reshma Jaffrey, Jackie Enriquez, Kristin Clary, Ellen Brown and Lisa Bell. |

| Continuing Education Scholarship |

| Crouch Elementary art teacher Lin Miller received the Judy Glaze Scholarship Award to attend the Texas Art Educators Association Conference. The award was presented by Noemi Ogle, who is on the scholarship committee of the Arlington Arts League. |

| UIL Area Marching Band |
|
| After receiving a superior rating at the UIL regional marching contest, the Seguin High School Cougar Marching Band advanced to the area competition and had a wonderful performance. While they did not advance to state this year, they represented the AISD well in the preliminary competition at area. |

| Trunk or Treat |
|
| More than 350 students and their families attended Wimbish Elementary’s annual trunk or treat event. Teachers and staff handed out candy, the PTA hosted games, and many students entered the pumpkin-decorating and costume contests. Even Principal Russ Berrong participated, dressed as a yellow crayon! |

| Pink Wednesdays |
|
| Bowie High School IB students are participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in April. To prepare, they have set a goal to do something for the cause every month, and the Key Club and AVID have joined in on the project. Staff and students were asked to wear pink every Wednesday in October to support this effort. |

| Paranormal Activity |

| Katie Featherston, Bowie High School class of 2001, is starring in the new movie Paranormal Activity. Steven Spielberg helped produce the finished product and even re-edited the ending before its release. Featherston was the star of Bowie’s 2001 UIL One Act Play, Wit, which advanced to region. She won best actress at zone, district and area levels. She majored in acting at Southern Methodist University. |

| Memories in the Making |

| On Friday, Oct. 16, Rankin Elementary celebrated a milestone – their 50th anniversary. The ceremony included students placing contributions in a time capsule and a style show of Rankin shirts throughout the years. After the formal ceremony, festivities continued with the annual math carnival. |
