As part of Boles Junior High’s efforts to recognize October as Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Boles Student Council organized Paws for the Cause day on Friday, Oct. 16. Everyone on campus was invited to wear pink that day. There was an incredible response from students and faculty. |

Red Ribbon Week

“I can! You can! We can! Being drug free comes in CANS.” As part of Red Ribbon Week, Crow Elementary students took a day and contributed canned food items for Mission Arlington. More than 300 cans were collected to help others. |

Seguin High School graduate Andrew G. signed with North Central Texas College in Gainesville to play baseball. Andrew was a two-year varsity letterman for the Seguin baseball team. |

Farrell Elementary student Dorian S. was one of the 200 winners selected in the Dear Mr. President! contest through Scholastic Book Clubs. Her letter to President Obama asking him to consider the issue of pollution by reducing automobile emissions was selected from nearly 15,000 entries. She won a 10-book presidential library from Scholastic. |

Celebrating Success

Third- through sixth-grade students and teachers at Crow Elementary had the privilege of painting Principal Sally Amendola purple, one of the school’s colors, because of their wonderful gains on this year’s TAKS test. Crow’s scores improved dramatically, and many students received commended performance recognition. |

Teens Learn About Important Issue

Nichols Junior High and the AISD Title I Family Involvement Program sponsored “Dating Dangers: Recognizing Abuse in Your Teen’s Relationship.” The free program included dinner, guest speakers, a concert by the Nichols band, theatrical re-enactments of dating dangers by Nichols drama students and a Q&A session. The event was designed to educate teens and their families about the warning signs of an abusive relationship. The educational program equipped attendees with information, including ways to prevent and respond to verbal, mental and emotional abuse. |
