Good Evening JBL Families!

I hope you are all enjoying your last couple of weeks of summer with your families.

I have a quick update for you this evening that I wanted to share with you prior to the district sharing it tomorrow so you are all in the know.

Some of you may know that the State of Texas recently passed a Cell Phone Ban for public schools in Texas. Each district will respond to this bill and communicate out to families so I wanted to let you know what AISD will be doing:

As of now, we will be doing a "Away for the Day" system for cell phones. It is exactly what we currently do at Little!

Students may bring their cell phones to school with them, all we ask is that they continue to power them off and keep them in their backpacks until the end of the school day. Upon dismissal, they can power them back on and use them when they leave campus.

Tomorrow when you receive that communication from AISD, just know we will keep doing what we have always done here at Little.

I will send you all a weekly update later this week with beginning of the year information.

I’m so excited for the new year ahead and look forward to the best one ever!

Have a lovely evening,
Mrs. Woodard

Help me give a warm welcome to our new strings teacher, Mr. Boyd. He will be teaching strings at Little, Fitzgerald and Dunn. Welcome to Arlington ISD!!

Hello! My name is Clayton Boyd, and I am excited to be the new Strings teacher in your community. I am originally from Austin, TX, where I lived until I attended Baylor University for my undergraduate degree.

I began my musical studies with piano at the elementary level, then began exploring strings when I entered middle school. I am excited to join the community at JBL, and work with students around the age that I decided what my life path was. Music should be available and accessible to all!

In my free time, I enjoy exploring walking trails around the city, going antiquing, and enjoying the live music scene in the DFW area. I look forward to meeting everyone in the community very soon!

Help me welcome our newest addition to the JBL family, Kayla Sportsman! 💚

Hello JBL Family!

My name is Kayla Sportsman and I am thrilled to be joining the kindergarten team this year! I am new to Arlington, having grown up in Round Rock where I also spent 2 years teaching kindergarten. I graduated from Texas Tech University (wreck’em!) with a degree in Early Childhood Education.

When I’m not at school I love to read, go to cycle classes, and go shopping. I have six nieces and nephews who I adore and are part of the reason I chose to become an educator!

I can’t wait to join the JBL community and meet all the amazing staff and students. It will be a great year!

We are excited to welcome our new Instructional Coach (SCESI), Amanda Whitehead to JBL.

Read all about her below.

Happy Summer, Little Rascals!
My name is Amanda Whitehead, and I’m beyond ecstatic to join the J. B. Little family as your new SCE Support Interventionist. Next year will be my 20th year in education and in AISD! I’ve had the joy of teaching kindergarten through third grade, serving as a K–6 GT Lead, Testing Facilitator, and Assistant Principal. I’m a proud Texas State University alumni—Eat ‘Em Up, Cats! And the University of Texas at Arlington alumni! I’m thrilled and honored to be a part of such a fun and spirited community, and I can’t wait to jump into all the Little Rascal traditions! I absolutely love learning, growing as a leader, and helping others shine. When I’m not at school, you’ll most likely find me cheering on my two awesome children—Ryder (13) and Rayne (8)—at their games or activities, soaking up sunshine at the lake with family and friends, out for a run, or lost in a good audiobook. I’m so looking forward to meeting everyone and supporting our incredible staff, students, and community. Let’s make it a fantastic year!!
